Soooo sorry! I haven't updated in forever and now it's NEW YEARS!!! D: Dunno what to say - I have no real good reasons.

So, quick life updates! Life is BUSYYYY. I had work on Christmas and gonna have it for New Years, too @__@. Whyyyy??????

Again, that's not really an excuse but more like something to rant about because I've had lots of time in the weekdays. Man, I am feeling SO unproductive lately! And I don't help myself by depressing and putting myself down all the time.

Without further ado - ART instead of MORE bad writing with overly elongated descriptions to go with them...

More stuff with the coats and all that - but in COLOR. If you're still watching this useless blog, Susie - There's Daniel in color! Haha!

As I mentioned sometime earlier in the last post- I read Catch-22 and really liked it. I sketched around how I imagined the characters to look sometimes (mainly Yossarian until I watched the movie then went with the way he looked in the movie XD). I drew Yossarian yelling about "bastards" killing him. XD Dunno who's supposed to be replying since I hodge-podged on it. I was debating between it being either Clevinger or Nately. P: Still dunno, but more likely Nately the more I look at it.

Wish I was able to solidify a drawing design thing for them... but hey - oh, well. I wish I could have drawn it better in general but for now I'll live with it this way since it's a sketch... I guess. >__>;

After reading Catch-22 I watched the live action movie that was made in the 70s. Safe to say, I thought it was okay. The book was long, so it was expected that they couldn't get that, that many scenes. Just some ones they thought were key enough to do and pull together in a movie. It was a movie that needed context like reading the book before watching. Once again, I think it's because the book itself is a ding-dang 400 pages long. At the beginning of the movie I had doubts about Alan Arkin playing Yossarian since he seemed so awkward to me - but by the end of the movie I had NO doubts. In fact, I thought he was just PERFECT for the part, I even imagine Yossarian to look like that in my head, now when I re-read parts. XD

At first I thought to paint one of the scenes from the movie. In the end, I decided to just draw a portrait of Alan Arkin kind of like a study thing and maybe I'll try a scene another day.

In general, I think it made it generally look like him but something about it isn't perfect, either. P: People told me they could tell who I was drawing so I'll take it as a good thing that I got a likeness at the very least.

A random bunch of trees and a bump of grass with a little walking path. You can probably easily see a light sketch for a body there .Dunno who or what kind of person to fill that space with... but I'll get back to it. I kinda hate everything behind the colorful leaves and twigs in front... but hey. I'll just practice - so there. P: The tree in front and the branches attached, though, I'm actually okay with it~ :)

I'm A Disgusting Writer

I feel way too guilty that this blog has been left so empty... But lately life has taken way too many twists, turns, and bellyflops so I guess it just makes me keep wanting to find an excuse to not have to think about things like this blog, work, school, etc... School's been over for a while so I don't know what I'm doing still not doing anything productive at all! XD

Maybe nothing at all is a bit of an exaggeration since I've already picked my classes for the next school quarter (it's looking super busy! D: ) and I've also finished reading "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller. When I was a kid I was picky about books - I disliked 1 out of maybe 10 books that came in contact with my hands. Because of that I used to think that I hated reading in general, as I got older I realized it's not that I hate books, but I've been a dope for letting other people pick books for me instead of me picking books I like on my own (durhurrr...). So lately I've been trying to get myself to read like I never used to do.

Today I have no art to share but today I will share that I am an occasional (sadly not so great) writer of strange short stories and senseless drabbles. If anyone's ever read Catch-22, it will be easy to see that that book's style inspired the drabble.

Here's a random snippet of what I wrote as of late:

“Now, see here. I am the only one who will help you – can't you understand that?”

“I can't understand that.”

“Why not?” And he would furrow those greying blonde brows of his. After all, Mr. Mansley the school counselor before him was a man of true compassion and principle. Mr. Adelbert Mansley was heartfelt over the principle of looking like he was a good man.. “Understand this – no one will help you but me. Me and my...” he cleared his weak throat for a moment.”Our friends.”

“Our friends,” he agreed.

“Our friends are here to make sure that you're good to go for life.”

“Good to go for life!” he raised a fist into the air.

“It's what you could be if you'd just let us help you then you'd see it our way.”

“If it's our way then I must already understand it now, sir!”

With that he pounded his thick fists against the table. As he was a boy full of much respect for his authorities, he made special sure to pound his fist on “sir”. That way the man could revel in the fact that his very presence was enough to demand passion and fervor. And to be theatrical and demonstrate how deeply he felt, he even got up and kicked the plastic chair he sat upon.

The man shook his head. His face was contorted in an expression of some strange passion. He must have understood what he meant with that moment of passion.

Exactly.

To the dot as to what he'd meant..

“No, no, no... I don't think you quite understand...” with that, Mr. Mansley sighed and kindly offered his self-pitying self a bottle of water to quench his poor throat. The compassionate man's talents were being wasted on this boy who made no sense to him. The only thing that was keeping Mr. Mansley on board with this was the respect that the boy was so good at presenting and the dream that if he could solve this boy's "case" then he'd become a hero of some sort.

The boy picked up the chair and stood it up on its sides, never taking his eyes off of the school counselor as to make sure it was known that he was still being perfectly respectful.

This one was before the actual session started. The girl helping to run the event was standing around so I tried to draw her and then scribbled around on various pages to warm up and loosen up.

About all the color figure drawings from earlier - sorry that my camera wasn't so good with the colors. >_< Not that they were super vibrant in real life or anything, but the pictures weren't that blurry. Oh, well... for now enjoy some 1 minute charcoals.

Woowww... so bad with the "once a week update" minimum thing. >__>; It's been over a week since I last updated... =___= And for that I guess that means DUMP TIME (sorry!).

First off, this club I joined at my college offers a 3 times a week figure drawing session for $4 a session (suuuper good price!). So the first dump will be my figure drawings.

Above are the 2 minute ones I did. At one point I stopped altogether because the pastels I used were REALLY bad. By bad I mean it was hurting my hands bad. The pigment would not show up on the paper unless you really SCRAPED it onto the page. My hand started really cramping up so I gave myself a small break.

Above are the five minutes ones - the last ones I got to do before having to go home. I did it in watercolor to give my hand a rest if anything. My hands were starting to cramp up with charcoals, pastels, etc. so I picked up a brush which allowed my hands to lax up more and went through the five minute poses with watercolor paint.

I was at the school library today looking through a collection of clothing catalogues from the 1920s. I drew in my sketchbook then decided to give it a shot by sketching some out digitally. I sorta regret it, now D: Ah, my lord... The lady's head came out too puny and her umbrella is like... wtf is that? ; A ; But anyways, I'm kinda uploading it since I haven't uploaded a sketch in a while. XD

I haven't mentioned yet on this blog but I've been watching Glee for the past few years. It's mainstream and admittedly over the top (very much so!) but it's still a show I enjoy watching. Yeah - how does that relate to anything?

For now sorry it's not so great - I finished it up laaaate at night and I didn't want to disrupt anyone and I had school the next day. I don't think I'm winning in the first place but I wanted to just do something with my time, I suppose~

First off, I'll give this thing I did about two weeks ago. I tried to draw a profile shot of John Lennon. Safe to say... I failed. ;____; I gave up pretty early in so maybe I coulda done more but... another day... >__>;

A painting practice doodle thing. I wanted to draw a face since I'm comfortable with that. I said earlier my goal was to figure out a painting style thing for myself. So... I did try and work on that. Dunno how it's going, though. Haha! However - I DO feel like I've improved which is a GOOD SIGN [insert my only clap for myself here].

The drawing is of a character named Adrian. I don't know why he's making that face either. P: He has braces in case no one noticed. D: And he's supposed to be Filipino - dunno if he looks it, though. >_<

I made a funny spaz dance and felt like drawing some characters doing that so I did a quickie sketch thing and smashed them together like this. P:

I decided to re-post an updated version of this to point out some things I did as a change up to make it more "character sheety". I added his height next to his head. I sooo did not bother with weights because uh... that stuff fluctuates and I'm scared I might calculate out a number that's unrealistic.

And the cast thing that I stated in the last post was probably vague... More specifically I have different stories in my mind. Each story has its own set of characters. A cast is the story's set of characters. Ark's cast has been named "Pora Former Cast" as of yesterday (I might change it P: ).
